How to Create Custom Service Types in Ride Sync

Custom service types let you configure tailored offerings for your customers, including fixed routes, special pricing, and default settings for common trips. Use them to streamline repeat journeys, control pricing behavior, and simplify the booking experi

1. Navigate to Service Types

Go to Settings to begin configuring your service types.

From Settings, click Service Types.

On this page, you'll see the default service types already set up for you. They're set to Active from the start, and you can toggle them on or off, or edit them, at any time.

2. Understand Default Service Types and Pricing Behavior

Review the default service types and their pricing behavior:

  • The Hourly/As Directed default service type lets customers choose how long they want the reservation to run, and pricing automatically adjusts based on the selected duration.

  • All other service types are priced using Google Maps data, which estimates trip duration based on traffic conditions and the specific route selected by the customer.

Use these defaults as a reference when designing your own custom offerings.

3. Create a New Custom Service Type

Click New Service Type to create a new offering.

In the new service type form, enter the basic details for your service. As an example, you can create a custom service type for a fixed route, such as a trip from Downtown Dallas to DFW Airport.

Custom service types are ideal for repeat trips where you want to apply special or consistent pricing.

4. Configure Description, Status, and Duration

In the service type details, enter a description to explain the service to your customers.

Then set the following:

  • Set the status as Active or Non-Active, depending on whether you want it immediately available to customers.

  • If the trip duration is typically the same each time, set a default duration so the system automatically uses that timing.

5. Define Pricing Rules and Base Rates

Configure how this custom service type will be priced:

  • Set a minimum price that always applies, on top of the base rate, so there's a price floor even for very short trips.

  • Configure custom base pricing that dynamically adjusts based on the vehicle tier the customer selects (for example, standard vs. premium vehicles).

Then specify how the quoting and instant booking plugins should apply vehicle pricing — choose whether to use the vehicle's per mile rate, per minute rate, per luggage surcharge, and/or per passenger surcharge for this service type.

6. Set Default Pickup/Drop-off Addresses and Airport Details

If this is a fixed or repeat route, set default pickup and drop-off addresses so customers don't have to enter them manually each time. For the Dallas–DFW example, enter the DFW Airport address as the default drop-off.

If the trip involves an airport, select the appropriate airport details so customers can enter their flight information — making it easier for you to track arrivals and departures.

7. Configure Display Options, Surcharges, and Save

Decide whether to:

  • Display a price estimate on the Request a Quote plugin for this service type.

  • Add any daily surcharges if you want to charge extra on specific days of the week.

Once everything is set, click Add Service Type to save it and add it to your quoting form so customers can start booking this custom service.
