Switching Your Company Profile to Kilometers
If your business operates outside the U.S. or you just prefer to work in kilometers, you can switch your Ride Sync account's distance unit from miles to kilometers. Once switched, every mileage figure across your account — reservations, quotes, dispatch, and reports — will display in kilometers instead of miles.
How to Switch to Kilometers
Go to Settings → General Settings and scroll to the Localization section at the bottom of the page. From there, change your distance unit to kilometers and save. This updates how distance is labeled and calculated throughout your account.
Update Your Vehicle Pricing to Match
Switching your unit of measure doesn't automatically adjust your per-mile pricing — you'll need to update it yourself so your quotes stay accurate. Ride Sync calculates pricing by taking the distance of a trip and multiplying it by your vehicle's rate per unit. Since a mile covers more ground than a kilometer (1 mile = 1.6 km), keeping your pricing equivalent means dividing your current per-mile rate by 1.6 to get your new per-kilometer rate.
Example
If your current rate is $10 per mile, your equivalent per-kilometer rate is $10 ÷ 1.6 = $6.25 per kilometer. A 10-mile trip that used to cost $100 covers 16 kilometers under the new setting, and at $6.25 per kilometer that trip still comes out to $100 — so your pricing stays consistent for your customers and your business.
Where to Update Rates
Update the per-unit rate for each of your vehicles under Settings → Vehicles, using your converted kilometer rate in place of your old per-mile rate. Do this for every vehicle before you start taking new bookings so your quotes calculate correctly.
